Why We Love Oregon

Here at Tributary Hotel, our luxury boutique hotel nestled in historic downtown McMinnville, we love introducing our guests to all that Oregon has to offer. Oregon is a state of beautiful contrasts—from the cool and windy coast to the expansive high desert and from the soaring snow-capped mountains to the lush forests.

Our cities are as diverse as our varied landscape and you’ll find a variety of personalities throughout Oregon’s seven regions: Central, Eastern, Portland, Mt. Hood & Columbia River Gorge, Oregon Coast, Southern Oregon, and the Willamette Valley. While we can’t possibly include every reason we love our home state, here are just a few of the reasons why we’re proud to call Oregon home.

Unforgettable Outdoor Adventures

Whether your definition of adventure includes adrenaline-pumping activities or photographing natural wonders, Oregon has you covered. Visit Oregon’s many majestic peaks like Mt. Hood, Mt. Bachelor, or the Three Sisters for unmatched winter sports, hiking, and camping under the stars. At popular hubs in Central Oregon, visitors can find a variety of outdoor activities. Climbers can find natural rock formations like the towering Smith Rock in Bend, while bikers have a plethora of scenic trails, bike-friendly cities, and mountain paths to choose from.

Those who prefer a more leisurely pace for their Oregon vacation can relax during a day of fishing, traveling to Bandon, Oregon for world-class golfing at Bandon Dunes, or walks along the coast. Those who want to turn up the dial on adventure can choose from a variety of water sports from kayaking to kitesurfing and more.

Local Food Culture

We can’t express our love for Oregon without praising our bounty of local ingredients. From those found on land like black truffles, marionberries, and hazelnuts, to the gifts of the sea like Dungeness crab and rockfish, and an ever-flowing selection of handcrafted beer and wine, Oregon offers delectable natural resources from each corner of the state.

Oregonians showcase their love of the land through farm-to-table restaurants, distinctive pours from Willamette Valley vineyards, and bountiful farmers markets. No matter where you are in the state, you’re sure to stumble upon drive-through coffee kiosks, food cart pods, and vegan- and vegetarian-friendly options.

Cultural Activities for All

Oregon has no shortage of cultural activities and events for the whole family, from educational to just plain fun. Whether you’re in Portland or exploring small towns, art walks, galleries, and museums abound, each offering a glimpse of the interweaving stories throughout Oregon’s history. Walk through old-growth forests or make your way through the most authentic Japanese gardens outside of Japan. Take your family to the Portland Zoo or the Oregon Coast Aquarium, or check out the local performing arts scene at community theaters, concerts, and music festivals.
