Champoeg State Heritage Area
This paved bicycle path traces along the Willamette River and passes through open meadows and dense forests. Expect a flat ride with a few short hills near the Historic Butteville Store, making this trail suitable for all ages.
Minto-Brown Island Park
More than 10 miles of paved, flat paths crisscross this 1,200-acre park in Salem, Oregon. Choose the 2.34-mile Red Osprey Loop for a relaxed, beginner bike trail with views of the Willamette River.
Moderate Bike Trails Near McMinnville
McMinnville Erratic Rock Ride
Start in downtown McMinnville next to Tributary Hotel and head out on an 18-mile out-and-back easy/moderate ride into the countryside. You’ll cruise down quiet, rural roads with less than 300 feet of elevation gain and view the 90-ton boulder that was “erratically” left by receding floodwater.
Grenfell Short Loop
This moderate 17.5-mile loop stops and ends at Ed Grenfell County Park, just five miles from Third Street. Expect great climbs with sweeping views and a few limited shoulders and visibility on some roads.
Hard Bike Trails Near McMinnville
McMinnville to Cape Kiwanda
Start this challenging 62-mile cycling route through Oregon’s Coast Range in Yamhill County wine country and end at the Pacific Ocean. Expect 5K of climbing and descending and views of Oregon’s famous Haystack Rock. The best part is, that you don’t have to turn around: you can take a shuttle back to McMinnville.
Loop the Reservoir
Expect a gravel-filled ride with plenty of forest and lake scenery during this loop around the McGuire Reservoir, the lake that provides the city of McMinnville with water. You’ll start just a two-mile drive from McMinnville’s Third Street, making it easily accessible for Tributary guests.
